I miss VK...but I guess this works

Dorm life at LCC is something to behold. Signs declaring, "Alcohol in your room ONLY" line the hallways. I don't foresee Westmont adopting this policy any time soon. I do enjoy the fact that I'm burning the most amazing vanilla incense right now though—another small joy outlawed by Westmont. "Quiet hours" here is more like a suggestion. I'm hating the fact that I'm a light sleeper, although I must say, I have a lot of respect for the boys next door who listen to techno at 7am. Whatever gets you going... But that's what I miss the most. My speakers. And really loud music.
I have been immensely blessed with three roommates who love Jesus and go out of their ways to show me his love every day. Some of the girls from Westmont ended up with people who drink (in their rooms, of course :) till 4 in the morning every other night and then invite their boyfriends to stay over. No closed hours here. Turns out LCC is the most technologically advanced university in the area...and especially if you want to learn English, this is the place to be. Therefore, most of the students aren't here for "spiritual reasons" and wouldn't call themselves Christians.
Each of the five floors have their own male and female RAs, but I couldn't even tell you my RA's name at this point. I've seen her. Stilettos...every day...but we have yet to even meet. [Katie...I miss your Trader Joes study breaks.] The most recent dorm event we had was called Alcatraz. Definitely did NOT attend that.
Hallways are bare walls with no lights (to conserve) and no windows, so they're dark and uninviting. Closed doors are the norm for this culture. Even if I leave our door open for a minute, one of the roommates is quick to shut it. Wouldn't want anyone to mistake us for actually being friendly.

There are three washers/dryers for the whole dorm (almost 400 people) so washing clothes by hand is popular. It makes me feel so old-fashioned, but I kinda like it ;)
